.three months old.

so it is right around three months that our son has started to get a little personality. He had his first, out loud, real laugh Sunday morning when Blake was playing around with him. I wanted to cry it was so darling. He has been the best baby ever and I love every second I get with him. We found out after a sad little week of rashes and spit up, that Nikson has a little peanut allergy, thanks to his mom who has been taking full advantage of Easter's commercialism and has been pounding the Reeses Eggs like nobody's business. What a jerk! So no nuts for Mama Bird. It's alright though, this no dairy and no Reeses thing should really do the "get my body back in shape" trick. Urgh, i mean, anything for the little. (with a face like his i would stop eating anything.)

The boy puckers like his mama.

So sad, but how darling are those ears? Am I right or am I right?

This is how he is all day. He just smiles so big. So pleasant and endearing, unless of course he just had some peanut backfire, then he is a little sad.

His Sacred Name - An Easter Declaration

This Easter season has been a little different for me. Every time I try and focus on what this weekend really means I get a little distracted and lose my focus. I know the baskets and candy are exciting, and the dresses and spring air is better, but I also know that the true reason to celebrate this time of year is because we have been given a new life. Immortality and my hope is that we can remember that and honor the Savior by working to gain eternal life with Him. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I believe in Jesus Christ.

the man's chair

One thing I have learned from my married life is that my husband thinks decorating is for the birds. It's true. He thinks there are a lot more important things that a home should have. I am a decorator. He is a minimalist. I like clean and fresh styles. He likes zombies. Together we make beautiful things...

Like our new zombie pillow... just a little iron on sheet and a great image via Google and tada! A pillow fit for a Blake.

PS- no my mother has not seen the zombie pillow. Is it gross looking? Sure, but at least we can compromise right?

i love lamp

My cute friend Natalie always emails me tutorials for cutsy projects that she thinks I should try out in my house. This one from Sew Mama Sew was a total blast and only cost me $8!

I found this little gem at the DI for $5. Ordinary lamp, right? Not anymore!

Cut up stripes of burlap. The thickness depends on your preference. Fold in half and iron.

Hot glue the fold onto your lamp shade and make sure to bend and twist and ruffle as much as you want... and voila...a lamp shade your mother and Queen Victoria would be proud of.

I used Krylon Spray Paint in Ocean Breeze to add a little splash to my room. Anthropologie sells a shade similar for $98.

General Conference

President Thomas S. Monson

General Conference is kind of a big deal for the LDS religion. It is a conference held twice a year, the first Saturday and Sunday of April and October. It is now that we get to hear from the prophet and the apostles as they address the world. Why do I love it? It is through these addresses that I gain a stronger testimony of the reality of a living Christ, I gain a brighter hope for the future, and I understand the meaning of why we are here on Earth. These things are important to me and help me to "get through life". As a new mama it is important for me to have spiritual direction especially in a world that is so confusing. We have this new little spirit in our home that we are to nurture and love, but we also have to teach him correct principles of life. I love this baby so much and I want to do what is best for him always. I feel a sense of strength after conference is over and a refreshed resolve to be a better wife and now mother. Conference is available to watch here and anyone can watch. Happy Weekend!
