another fun project

i have a darling cousin who asked me help her organize her pantry.
it was probably the most fun pantry i have had to organize yet.
kristina was totally diggin on the ideas i had.
i would email her my thoughts and the next day i would get a picture with some treasures she had found.
she took the bull by the horns and ran with it...

the before

and after.
we tried to embrace the industrial chic feel with a little bit of country.
the metal crates are my favorite.
i also fell in love with hobby lobby's giant mason jars.

if you have organizing questions, shoot me an email.

what motivates you?

when i run i always keep in mind mini motivations to accomplish bigger goals.
if i can just make it to the other side of the park i can slow down.
when i hit 300 cals i can run downhill.
when this justin bieber song ends i will sprint.
the list goes on and on until i feel like i have reached my main goal.
i began thinking about my habit of forming mini motivations throughout other aspects of my life.
i started listing off the things that motivate me...

  • a happy husband
  • a healthy son
  • a natural relationship with Heavenly Father
  • a strong body
  • a clean home
  • fresh relationships
  • the ability to have an eternal perspective
all these things motivate my everyday choices.
i am learning more and more to filter my decisions with what i am motivated with in order to create the optimum sense of happiness day to day.
i have gotten to the point where i am surrounding myself with multiple projects that are driven by my motivations listed above.
i often wonder if what motivates me is really why i do the things i do.
i run a company, i have the blog, i started one of these bad boys with some great friends, and i work with the youth at church.
but more importantly...

i am his wife

i am his mother (don't mind my honker.)

and that seriously is all the motivation i need.

PS- that was the unofficial etsy shop announcement.
she is just a babe right now, but get ready.
when she is working it full force it will be as exciting as hearing fireworks boom on a day that isn't the fourth of july.

kitchen pantry

good monday to you!
did your weekend fly by as fast as ours did?
holy smokes!
we had the perfect weekend.
relaxed in park city, hung out with friends, and went to the most darling super bowl party.
way to go giants.

not only was it a great weekend, it was also a busy week.
lots to do for organizing.
i have a client in alpine that needed her kitchen pantry done.
she sent me these photos.

is it weird that these pictures make me so excited?
probably.

i got to work.
the hardest part about organizing is purging the spot.
cleaning it, and prepping for new move ins.
that doesn't mean you throw everything away.
it just means that the spot needs to be completely empty in order for things to be put back in better order.
this house was a big deal, but SO FUN!

purging, cleaning, arranging.
the finished product makes me so happy.

categorized shelves help with unloading groceries and cooking. SO much easier.
big baskets are used to store onions, potatoes, and bulk items.

we moved her dishes that were in a side cabinet in the main kitchen to the funky diagonal shelving.
this enables everyone to see all the dishes and not wonder what food is tucked deep.
her baking goods were put in cute wire baskets so she could pull them out all in one container.
one shelf was used for her appliances that are daily or weekly used.
the hidden shelving to the right help all paper and plastic goods that no one needs to see, but need to be easily accessible.

the "quick foods" were placed besides the fridge so her kids can have a good grab and go spot.
i usually put cereals in their own bins, but this family goes through cereal so quickly that it wasn't something my client wanted to do.
and that's cool.

appliances she rarely gets to were placed on the top of the pantry in order so she can see what she has instead of having them buried in dark places.

our give-away pile.
i rarely throw everything out.
we just find better places for things.

have a great day!

The Perfect Housewife

Blake and I are starting up a new business.

Here is the skinny.

I started working for a dear friend Rebecca Jensen when I turned 16. My duties started off with just being her nanny and caring for her four crazy boys. It was such a fun job. As the boys started to be at school more full-time I still went to work 40 hours a week. I started doing a lot of random jobs to help organize her life. I don’t think she really needed me, but it freed up time for her to be more involved in her boy’s lives. It soon became a job that I was learning so much from and felt confident I could run this woman’s home without her. I would do anything she needed that she didn’t have time to get to or had no desire to do on her own. I started the day with projects like organizing her storage closets or rotating the boy’s clothes for different seasons. I decorated rooms, organized journals and pictures, helped with groceries, and ironed linens. There was one day Becca and I hand-painted her new cement walkway to make it look more natural, totally random, but now I can say I know how. Once the boys got home from school I had time to tackle homework and help drive for activities and sports without feeling like the house was chaotic. They were too busy to worry about the little things. This job was the ultimate training. My whole life I have worked for people that have helped me develop a very strong work ethic. These skills have given me a flair that has enabled me to make great connections and help a lot of people with organizing their lives and complete random, yet important projects. With my current employer, I do just that. My being there helps her live her life without having to worry about the little things. The more connections I make the more I realize there are people out there that need the same kind of help. Wouldn’t it be nice to have part-time personnel that could help you get your home or office in order so that you can be more a part of your life? The company is called The Perfect Housewife. So what I have done is I have gotten together some friends that I consider to be the very best at what they do and we are taking on Utah. Anyone of them can be hired on for part-time or full-time assistance to complete your everyday projects.

I am writing to you to enlist your help in getting the word out to people you know who would be interested here in Utah. I am also willing to do projects in Colorado when I am out there. I am really excited about this.

If you have questions, comments, or referrals please let me know! I am also taking resumes of people who are interested in working, so if you think of someone who fits the mold call me. This year has been so awesome for our little family and I am anxious for what’s to come.
